HEBER CITY — A 44-year-old man was found dead in the water of the Strawberry Reservoir after being reported overdue by his wife on a boating trip, Wasatch County Search and Rescue said Monday night.

The man told his family he would be at Aspen Grove dock on Monday morning about 9 a.m. Sunday and never returned. The man's wife call dispatch about noon reporting that the 44-year-old man was overdue and had spent the night on his boat.

Wasatch County Search and Rescue, Wasatch County Fire, State Parks, the Division of Wildlife Resources and a Department of Public Safety helicopter responded and located the man's boat near Solider Creek.

The boat was approximately 100 yards from the shore, unanchored and unattended, according to search and rescue. Rescue crews located the man in the water, approximately 50 feet beneath his boat.

The State Medical Examiner's Office will determine the official cause of death.

The man's identity was not released.
