SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health reported 282 new cases of COVID-19, eight deaths, and 5,759 vaccinations in the state on Sunday.
Seven of the deaths occurred prior to May 27, the health department said.
The rolling seven-day average for positive cases in the state is now at 335, up from 331 on Saturday.
The rolling seven-day average for the percent of positive tests as calculated by the "people over people" method is 9.4%. The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity as calculated by the "tests over tests" method is 6.2%.
Since the pandemic began, 413,950 people in Utah have tested positive for COVID-19 and 2,843,946 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the state. A total of 2,784,871 people in Utah have been tested, and 5,083,161 total tests have been conducted.
Currently, 215 people in Utah are hospitalized with COVID-19. Since the pandemic began, a total of 17,436 people in Utah have been hospitalized with COVID-19.
None of the eight people whose deaths were reported Sunday were hospitalized when they died:
- A Cache County woman between the ages of 45 and 64.
- A Davis County man, 65-84.
- A Salt Lake County man, 25-44.
- A Salt Lake County woman, 45-64.
- A Salt Lake County man, 45-64.
- A Summit County man, 65-84.
- A Weber County woman, 45-64.
- A Weber County man, 25-44.
The additional deaths bring the cumulative Utah death toll since the pandemic began to 2,363.
