ROY — A man who agreed to give a woman a ride ended up being stabbed as he drove her straight to the Roy Police Department, according to investigators.
On Tuesday, an officer was standing out front of the police department, 5051 S. 1900 West, when a car going at a high rate of speed pulled into the parking lot. The officer could see a man and woman arguing loudly inside the car, according to a police affidavit.
The man attempted to get out of the vehicle as the woman continued to grab his arm and pull on him, the affidavit states. As the officer approached to find out what was going on, the man said the woman had just stabbed him and the officer "could see blood running down the male's right arm."
As Cristel Marlene Moreno, 25, got out of the car, a knife was heard dropping to the pavement, the affidavit states. The officer took Moreno into custody at gunpoint.
Investigators learned Moreno is homeless and that the man "was attempting to give her a ride to find somewhere to stay," but along the way she "attacked the male unprovoked," police wrote in the affidavit.
The man suffered a stab wound "through the arm into the armpit and penetrated the right chest wall into the ribs which protect the lungs" as well as two other cuts, the affidavit says.
A knife with an 8-inch blade and serrated edge was recovered. Moreno was arrested and charged Wednesday in 2nd District Court with aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.
