HEBER — A controlled burn in unincorporated Wasatch County near 4800 East and 1200 South in Heber that lost control is now 100% contained, Wasatch County fire officials said Tuesday afternoon.
The fire, nicknamed the "Little Pole Fire," initially was said to have burned 50 acres, but it was later determined to be 21 acres. Someone called the fire in at about 3:15 p.m. on Monday saying that a controlled burn had gotten out of hand.
At about 5:20 p.m. Monday, Wasatch County Fire said in a Facebook post that eight to 10 homes between 4800 East to 5700 East were evacuated as a precaution. Evacuations were lifted just an hour later at about 6:30 p.m. when the fire was 5% contained.
By 8 p.m. Monday, the fire was 45% contained, officials said. Wasatch County Fire continued to monitor the fire throughout the night into Monday.
The fire was completely contained by 1 p.m. on Tuesday, fire officials said.
