SALT LAKE CITY — One man is dead and two more people were transported to the hospital after a car crash at 400 South Redwood Road, Salt Lake City police said.
According to Salt Lake City Police Lt. Wierman, a small passenger vehicle with a driver and a passenger was traveling southbound on Redwood Road. The passenger vehicle made a left-hand turn and there was a collision with an SUV at the intersection of 400 South. The SUV was traveling northbound, Wierman said.
The male passenger in the car was killed, according to Wierman. The drivers of the small car and the SUV were transported by ground ambulance with minor injuries. The number of occupants in the SUV was not specified.
A medical helicopter was called after the car crash, according to police. The cause of the crash is currently being investigated, said Wierman.
All directions of 400 South Redwood Road were closed, according to Utah Department of Transportation. At 10 p.m., police estimated the road will be closed for another two to three hours.
