PAYSON — A Payson man has been arrested and accused of propositioning three teenage girls, and forcing one of them smoke methamphetamine.
Daniel Sanchez, 44, was booked into the Utah County Jail Monday for investigation of two counts of human trafficking of a child, enticing a minor, two counts of drug distribution, obstruction of justice, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Three girls, ages 14, 14 and 13, all told police they had been offered money by Sanchez in exchange for sex acts, according to a police affidavit.
One girl said Sanchez offered her $100 to perform sex acts on both him and his son, and that if she told anyone "she would be in trouble and something might happen to her," the affidavit states.
A second girl told investigators that Sanchez had propositioned her by text and later forced her to smoke methamphetamine, according to the affidavit. While giving the girl a ride, he allegedly told her "there was $50 in the visor of the vehicle and it was to 'play nasty.'" On another occasion, Sanchez is accused of giving the girl an amphetamine pill.
When police interviewed Sanchez, he admitted to offering money to three girls in exchange for sex acts but claimed he wasn't planning on going through with it.
"Daniel stated he only asked because he wanted to test a rumor he had heard" that the girls would have sex, so he "tested" them "in order to keep his son safe," according to the affidavit.
