LEHI — Lehi police were called to Lehi Junior High on Thursday after school administrators were notified that a student had brought a weapon to school, according to the Alpine School District.
The district's public relations administrator, David Stephenson, said someone quickly notified the administration that a student had brought an unspecified weapon to the school, located at 700 Cedar Hollow Road, and school administrators promptly intervened and called police. Parents were also quickly notified, he added.
Stephenson said that the Lehi Police Department is conducting an investigation, and that the student will likely be sent to a hearing for violating the Safe School Policy. Pending the police investigation's results and the outcome of the hearing, the student could face expulsion or suspension, Stephenson said.
He said he and other district administrators appreciate when "someone sees something or hears something that they act quickly and help resolve situations like this.
Stephenson said he did not have any information regarding the intent of the student.
