BALLARD, Uintah County — A Uintah County man and his dog are dead after the man's vehicle rolled off the road Wednesday morning.
The 59-year-old man was driving along 3750 South near 1800 East to the south of Ballard at 11:20 a.m. Witnesses told officials the man was driving at a high rate of speed when he passed another vehicle and lost control. His vehicle drove off the road and rolled, ejecting him from the vehicle. He died at the scene along with his dog.
Investigators believe he was trying to drive his injured dog to the vet, motivating him to drive so fast, according to a statement from the Uintah County Sheriff's Office.
The man's identity was not released Wednesday night. The accident is still under investigation.
