SALT LAKE CITY — Officials warned Utahns to drive carefully Saturday after inches of overnight snow across northern Utah caused numerous wrecks and delays.

The Utah Department of Transportation tracked several different accidents on its traffic conditions website throughout the day. A rollover crash was also reported near Butler Fork in Big Cottonwood Canyon just before 3 p.m., with three children and one adult all walking away with minor injuries.

"Expect delays. Please drive with caution on these slick canyon roads," UDOT tweeted. The rollover was cleared after 5 p.m.

The Utah Highway Patrol also reminded Utah drivers on its Twitter account to slow down, increase following distance, wear seat belts and stay alert on the slick roads. "Salt Lake Troopers are very busy this morning," it said.

A Utah Transit Authority bus skidded out on a roundabout near 900 S. 1100 East on Saturday morning. There were no passengers on the bus and the driver was unharmed, but a UTA supervisor who came to examine the accident slipped on the ice, hit her head and was taken to be checked out, a spokesman said.

Traction rules were in effect Saturday morning for Big and Little Cottonwood Canyon as well as for Spanish Fork Canyon, meaning vehicles must be equipped with traction devices or appropriate snow tires to enter.

As of Saturday morning, the National Weather Service estimated that Salt Lake City had received 0.8 inches of snow. Snowbird reported 4 inches overnight, Solitude reported 3, and the Canyons Village at Park City resort reported 7.
