SALT LAKE CITY — A man accused of being inappropriate with a woman at a Salt Lake City gym was arrested after assaulting another person at the gym who tried to intervene, according to police.
Christopher Wright, 33, was arrested Friday and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault.
According to a police affidavit, Wright was in Planet Fitness in Salt Lake City and "would go dramatically out of his way in order to view this woman from inappropriate angles including crawling, laying down and altering his position so that he was always able to view her."
Wright also made "crass and obscene comments" while trying to look at the woman, the affidavit states.
A man tried to intervene, and then backed down when it became apparent Wright would become violent, according to the affidavit. But as the man began walking away, "Wright then swung at the unprepared opponent, striking him in the lip and hitting him hard enough to knock him to the ground. He then began kicking the victim while he was on the ground until nearby patrons of the establishment interceded on the victim's behalf," the affidavit states.
Because Wright continued kicking the man when he was on the ground, police arrested him for investigation of aggravated assault, according to the affidavit.
