By now the excellence of the Volkswagen Atlas is well established. Refined looks, seven seats, lots of space, and tech to spare — if you're considering a new vehicle for the family, you won't be disappointed. Especially with the updates that the 2021.5 refresh will bring.

That's right, VW is giving its popular and award-winning Atlas some major love halfway through its product cycle, and Volkswagen SouthTowne is ready to sell them to you.

"Atlas has become one of our most popular SUV's, especially for larger families," said Volkswagen SouthTowne General Manager Josh Osborne. "The Atlas is a 7-seater, super fun to drive, very comfortable for everything from school carpool to road trips. The 2021 model is gorgeous, so we're very excited to see 2021.5 version soon as well."

While some manufacturers leave their models largely untouched for a generation, VW is keen on providing its customers the newest features without delay.

Already benefiting from an exterior and interior facelift for the 2021 model year, the 2021.5 mid-cycle upgrades make the Atlas an even more compelling vehicle for Utahns wanting an attractive, modern SUV, capable of hauling the entire family in the sun, rain, or blizzard. Why? Read on.

Top-of-the-line infotainment

Volkswagens are known for their long lists of standard features as compared to competitors, and VW seems intent on keeping with that tradition with the updates to the 2021.5 Atlas.

Headlining the updates to the Atlas is the inclusion of VW's new MIB3 infotainment system. Standard on all Atlas trims, save the base S, the MIB3 system is a very nice improvement in functionality over the old second-generation MIB system.

New standard features like wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Sirius XM with 360L compatibility, make the Atlas a tech leader in the automotive industry, offering more features than some more expensive vehicles.

Improved voice command functions as well as a robust navigation system round out the new and improved MIB3 infotainment system. If excellent infotainment tech is important to you, you'll want to be sure to check out the VW Atlas at Volkswagen SouthTowne.

Intelligent safety features

In addition to an excellent infotainment upgrade, Atlas customers willing to spring for the upper-level SEL or SEL Premium trims will get the bonus of new safety updates exclusive to the 2021.5 refresh: Travel Assist and Emergency Assist.

VW's Travel Assist taps into the adaptive cruise control and lane-centering features, to assist in steering, braking, and accelerating. Think of it as an almost semi-autonomous driving feature.

Emergency Assist will bring the Atlas to a stop should the system notice that the driver isn't paying attention, like having their hands off the wheel for a prolonged period of time.

Excellent handling in the snow

Utah's winter weather is anything but predictable and can make getting around a challenge if driving a vehicle ill-suited for the conditions at hand.

If you want to be able to tackle the winter conditions with confidence, and you're willing to get outfitted with winter tires, then an all-wheel-drive VW Atlas is the vehicle for you.

Volkswagen's 4Motion system has been around for a long time, and it works extremely well. Providing the fuel-efficiency of having only two wheels engaged while on dry surfaces, the 4Motion system automatically engages when wheelspin is anticipated. This all-wheel-drive engagement is nearly instantaneous and will ensure you have four-wheel traction when you need it most.

Space for the whole family — and their gear

Utahns like their large families, and with large families come large vehicles.

With 20.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 55.5 cubic feet with the third row folded down, and 96.8 cubic feet with all rear seats folded, the Atlas boasts a downright cavernous space for gear and people hauling.

Unlike some seven-seat SUVs, the Atlas is anything but cramped, even for adults. According to U.S. News, the Atlas "provides generous seating space for adults, even in the third row," with the seats themselves being "comfortable and supportive."

Easy to drive, comfortable to ride

There's nothing like a weekend drive to see the fall colors of Utah, and the VW Atlas seems to have been made for such a purpose.

Edmunds.com calls out the Atlas's ride as one of the best features of the vehicle, saying the cushy ride "...strikes a deft balance between comfort and on-road feel, soaking up bumps easily but without the floaty feeling you notice in some rivals...The brake feel is natural and easy to predict, and the steering is surprisingly precise. The eight-speed automatic transmission is well-tuned and shifts quickly and smoothly."

In short, the 2021.5 Volkswagen Atlas is refreshed and primed for the Utah market. If you haven't considered an Atlas from Volkswagen SouthTowne before, now is the time to check them out. Extremely comfortable, competent, and laden with the newest tech, safety features, and all-wheel-drive, the VW Atlas should be your next car — especially with the great deals available for financing starting on many available models at 0% or with the new Atlas at 1.9% APR.
