MILBURN, Sanpete County — A manhunt is underway in Sanpete County for two wanted fugitives who allegedly fired a shot at Utah law enforcers Wednesday.
Just before 9 a.m., Sanpete County sheriff's deputies and a Fairview police officer went to a residence in Milburn looking for two people wanted in Wyoming, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.
“While approaching the residence, a shot was fired at officers from inside of the residence. An adult male and female then ran eastward from the residence into the mountainside,” according to the statement.
No injuries were reported.
Authorities are looking for Brett Gilman Johnson, 50, and Jamie Carol Cleghorn, 42. Police say both should be considered “armed and dangerous.”
Officers from the Department of Public Safety, Utah County Sheriff’s SWAT team, Snow College police, Ephraim police, Fairview police, the Utah Department of Corrections, and other agencies were assisting in the search Wednesday afternoon.
Residents in the Milburn area should call 911 if they see any unknown people in the area.
Correction: In an earlier version, police incorrectly reported Brett Gilman Johnson’s age as 41, and Jamie Carol Cleghorn’s age as 51. Johnson is 50 and Cleghorn is 42. Cleghorn’s last name was also misspelled in one instance as Gleghorn.
