LAYTON — A man died early Saturday morning when his car drifted into oncoming traffic and hit a truck head-on, officials said.

The crash happened about 6:40 a.m., according to Layton Police Sgt. John Ottesen. Preliminary reports indicate a westbound passenger car, drifted over into eastbound traffic on US 193 near 900 West and hit a white truck.

Ottesen said the driver of the westbound car, a 24-year-old man, died in the crash. The driver of the truck was apparently unharmed; he was not transported by ambulance but was later taken to the hospital by family members as a precaution, Ottesen said.

There are no indications at this time that alcohol, drugs or other impairment was involved, Ottesen said. The crash is under investigation.

The deceased man's name was not released Saturday.
