BOUNTIFUL — A man recently convicted of having illegal sexual relations with a teenage girl and selling videos of their encounters for money now faces additional charges.
Keaton Beckstrand, 29, of Bountiful, was charged Thursday in Davis County’s 2nd District Court with two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a third-degree felony.
Beckstrand pleaded guilty on July 22 in Weber County to three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony, and unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a third-degree felony, as part of a plea deal. He was originally charged with seven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, and three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 9.
In that case, Beckstrand is accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl during a 7-month “relationship,” according to charging documents.
Investigators also found Beckstrand had recorded videos and took pictures of the two having sex and the girl sold those photographs online for money to buy food, gasoline and car repairs for both of them, the charges state.
New charging documents filed Thursday allege that Beckstrand engaged in sexual activity with a girl starting when she was 14 at his home in Bountiful, sometime from approximately Jan. 1, 2019, to April 28, 2020. Beckstrand was arrested on April 29 and remained in the Weber County Jail as of Thursday.
The sexual activity with the girl, who was from Weber County, occurred over six months, the charges state. Court documents do not indicate whether the victim in his new case is the same girl from his previous case.
