OGDEN — A construction worker died after being crushed by the bucket of an excavator on Tuesday morning, authorities said.
The incident occurred about 9:41 a.m. near 5800 W. 1100 South, west of Ogden in unincorporated Weber County, according to Weber County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Cortney Ryan.
Sheriff’s deputies and medical personnel responded to the scene and attempted lifesaving measures, but the worker died at the scene, Ryan said.
The man was identified Thursday as 21-year-old Donis Villalobos of South Salt Lake.
The construction crew was working on a water or sewage pipeline in the area, he added. The crew was working as part of a private company, Ryan said, but he did not know the name of the company.
There was nothing suspicious about the death, Ryan said.
The Weber County Sheriff’s Office, Weber Fire District, Ogden City Ambulance and a rescue team from Riverdale Fire also responded to the incident. The Utah Medical Examiner’s Office and the U.S Occupational Safety and Health Administration will also be investigating the death.
