ST. CHARLES, Idaho — Authorities have located the body of a Utah man who fell off an inner tube and drowned at Bear Lake on Saturday.
Several people on kayaks saw the man, 27-year-old Martin T. Garcia of Logan, struggling in the water and paddled toward him but he went under the water before they could reach him and did not resurface.
The Bear Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a possible drowning on Saturday about 7:33 p.m., they said. Search efforts were conducted by multiple agencies, but the search was suspended due to darkness and resumed Sunday morning.
Using sonar technology, divers recovered Garcia's body around 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
