Hurricane is looking for their first state title but a 13-0 Juan Diego team stands in their way.
The Tigers completed one of the greatest turnarounds in state history. After a 3-8 season last year, they are 12-1 and one win away from doing something they have never done, Win a state title.
They feature the states leading rusher,Gordie Dotson, and their defense doesn't give up many points. They play a physical smash mouth style of football that they hope can bring home the hardware.
Juan Diego won two state championships in 2A. Now after a 13-0 season they are ready to claim their first 3A State Title.
While the Tigers have Gordie Dotson, the Soaring Eagle have their own star running back. Tyler Morales has rushed for 1,044 yards this season while scoring 17 touchdownns. He piled up 202 yards and three touchdowns in Juan Diego's 28-21 quarterfinal victory over Logan. Then he ran for 187 yards and three touchdowns in a 27-3 semifinal win over Park City.
The Soaring Eagle have destroyed their competition along the way to perfection. Their offense averages 37 points a game while their defense held their opponents to just 5. No one came closer than 7 points of beating them.
