(KSL News) A passenger was pulled from a burning car after the vehicle collided with a semi and burst into flames. We got word this afternoon that he succumbed to his injuries.

Fire officials say it happened when a semi trailer was backing into a vacant lot at the intersection of 1300 West and Temple View Drive in Riverton. A car traveling southbound clipped the semi, and the car burst into flames.
Unified Fire Authority Battalion Chief Brent Speirs said, "When our first arriving ladder arrived on the scene, we had a fully involved car. We actually had some passersby pull the passenger from the car."
The passenger was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but he died this afternoon. The driver is in good condition.
Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.
