ROCKY RIDGE, Juab County — Evacuations were lifted Wednesday night after a wildfire estimated to be over 300 acres burning west of Rocky Ridge on Wednesday afternoon threatened structures, state and federal fire officials reported through Utah Fire Info.
Fire officials said Friday that the fire is now 100% after it had been mapped at 350 acres Thursday.
The fire threatened structures when it began Wednesday and forced evacuations but those evacuations were lifted just before 10 p.m. that night. It was 20% contained by then.
Air and ground resources responded to the blaze, dubbed the Rocky Ridge Fire. Information on how many homes were evacuated wasn't released. The fire began moving southwest, away from the community, fire officials reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Another fire burned on Wednesday near Hurricane in Washington County and destroyed about 20 vehicles from a salvage yard.
That fire, dubbed the Pecan Fire, mapped at 5.5 acres and was 80% contained as of Wednesday night.
It was sparked after an individual used a welder in the area that lit fire to dry grass nearby, fire officials said.
