LAKE POWELL — The body of a 30-year-old man who was presumed drowned at Lake Powell was recovered on Wednesday, officials said.
Dustin Olague, of Flagstaff, Arizona, was reported missing about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday after witnesses reported he jumped from a private boat for a swim and never resurfaced.
Conditions at the time were semi-windy when he disappeared underwater, officials reported.
Search operations were conducted on Sunday and when a recovery wasn’t made, Olague was presumed drowned.
The National Park Service conducted a grid search using side-scan sonar equipment and the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Dive team assisted in the search as well.
The lake is estimated to be between 80-120 feet deep in the area.
Olague’s body was transported to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy and the incident is under investigation by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.
