SALT LAKE CITY — A Carbon County man convicted a few months ago of sexually abusing a minor now faces a slew of new charges.
Tanner Chase Willson, 21, of Wellington, was charged Friday in 7th District Court with 52 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony. An initial court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
In August, Willson was convicted of sexually abusing a minor and was sentenced to 10 days in the Carbon County Jail and three years of probation, according to court records. He was also ordered to undergo sex offender treatment.
In April, Adult Probation and Parole officers learned that Willson was violating the conditions of his probation, according to an arrest warrant.
“Screen shots were provided to Adult Probation and Parole verifying Mr. Willson had a fake Snapchat,” the warrant states. Officers confronted Willson about the allegations and searched his phone.
“Once Mr. Willson’s cellphone was unlocked, pornography images/videos were found in his phone,” according to the warrant.
Officers also learned that Willson “has not been attending treatment like he should be” and counselors even told him “due to COVID-19 he can do individual therapy over the phone, but Mr. Willson still has not reached out to continue treatment,” the warrant states.
