REAL WORLD/VIRTUAL WORLD — Meet Hera. She's a good girl who takes care of her human, Christen, even though that silly human doesn't realize she's the pet. Silly humans.
Anyway, Hera watches out for Christen — makes sure she gets enough snuggles, makes sure that scary mailman doesn't stay on the porch too long, and makes sure that Christen remembers to fill her food tray.
Actually, I don't know that any of that is true, but look at Hera. There is no way she's not a good girl. And one thing a good girl does is make sure her human is taken care of; I think that is exactly why Hera is a little concerned here.
Christen's boyfriend, Dylan, came over last summer to play a VR game called Beat Saber. If you haven't played the game, you should know it’s both a lot of fun and rough on the senses, with bright blinking lights and incredibly loud music. (Man, I'm getting old. The next thing you know, I'm going to be complaining about those youths loitering outside the 7-11). Anyway, Dylan stopped by to play.
As a good girl, one of the things Hera is in charge of is making sure Christen picks the right mate. And after watching this video, she's not sure Dylan is right for her very special human.
If you're going to play Beat Saber — or any VR game, really — you have to make sure you don't mind looking like a buffoon in front of everyone as you appear to aimlessly throw your hands around the room with no rhyme or reason. That's exactly what happened when Dylan was cutting virtual boxes in half with lightsabers only he could see and techno music only he could hear.
The spectacle was something Hera was not impressed by. You can see the concern on her face? It's almost as if you can read her thoughts: "Really, Christen? This guy? This is the guy you think you could see being the father to your children? The man who will love and support you through your ups and downs? The man you want your parents to meet? He's lost his mind, and for some reason he's dressed like Geordi from 'Star Trek,' but with basketball shorts and an unruly beard. Let's have a chat, shall we, Christen?"
Did Hera have all of these thoughts? I have no idea. But what is clear is that Hera is all sorts of confused and not the least impressed with Dylan.
Have You Seen This?
