SPANISH FORK — A 22-year-old woman who was critically injured on Monday after her car was hit by a semitruck on U.S. 6 has died of her injuries, police said Tuesday.
Joy Johnson, of Spanish Fork, suffered head trauma and was transported to Utah Valley Hospital via medical helicopter in extremely critical condition, according to Spanish Fork Police Lt. Brandon Anderson.
On Tuesday, police said Johnson had died of her injuries.
Johnson was northbound on Powerhouse Road in an SUV when she tried to turn left onto westbound U.S. 6. Her vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by a semitruck that was eastbound on the highway traveling toward Spanish Fork Canyon.
The semitruck’s driver was uninjured, but there was some damage to the truck itself.
The crash shut down both directions of U.S. 6 at Canyon Road for several hours on Monday night.
