ARREST MADE IN “DUCK DYNASTY” DRIVE-BY SHOOTING

WEST MONROE, La. (AP) — Authorities in Louisiana say a man is under arrest in connection with a drive-by shooting at the estate of “Duck Dynasty” star Willie Robertson. The suspect is Daniel King Jr. — and police say he was booked into custody after two homes in West Monroe were struck by gunfire Friday afternoon. Robertson says his family was “pretty shook up” by the gunfire — especially since one of the bullets fired at the home went through the bedroom window of a home where his son John Luke lives with his wife and infant child. No one was injured.

BRAD PITT PLAYS DR. FAUCI ON “SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE: AT HOME”

NEW YORK (AP) — Usually if a performer in a “Saturday Night Live” comedy sketch breaks character, it’s because something funny happens. But when Brad Pitt stepped out of character the other night, it was to inject some seriousness into the opening sketch. After playing infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci (FOW’-chee), Pitt removed his wig and eyeglasses and — staring into the camera — thanked the man he’d just finished spoofing. He told Fauci the nation appreciates the accurate and honest information he’s been sharing during the coronavirus pandemic. In the bit itself Pitt, as Fauci, corrected several wrong statements Trump has made about COVID-19 and his efforts to combat it.

BRAD PITT APPEARANCE ON SNL SUGGESTED BY DR. FAUCI, HIMSELF

NEW YORK (AP) — You could say Brad Pitt’s appearance on “Saturday Night Live” as Dr. Anthony Fauci (FOW’-chee) was just what the doctor ordered. In a recent CNN interview, Dr. Fauci was jokingly asked who he’d prefer to portray him, Ben Stiller or Pitt. Fauci chose Pitt — and that’s who did it. Pitt seemed touched by the recommendation. At the end of his bit, he removed his wig and glasses and thanked Fauci for keeping the nation informed about COVID-19.

PRESIDENT TRUMP MIGHT SKIP BRIEFINGS

WASHINGTON (AP) — Will he, or won’t he? We’ll likely learn today whether President Donald Trump will follow through on his Twitter gripe that his daily televised coronavirus briefings aren’t worth his time. Trump has chafed at what he calls “nasty” questions by White House reporters at the sessions. Meanwhile, a growing number of people feel the briefings don’t help. That was reinforced last week, when Trump suggested disinfectants could be injected into the body to kill the coronavirus. That prompted the maker of Lysol to state it would be foolish and dangerous to ingest or inject their products.

STEPHEN SONDHEIM TRIBUTE AIRS ONLINE

NEW YORK (AP) — If you’ve been frustrated by technical glitches that crop up during Zoom meetings, take heart. Last night, there was a big online show to honor composer Stephen Sondheim — and it, too, had technical issues. The event featured performances by Josh Groban, Jake Gyllenhaal and Nathan Lane, plus many others. But the tribute began more than an hour after it was supposed to on YouTube. And since, it’s the internet, the trolls came out in force. One annoyed fan posted, “Send in the singers!” — taking liberties with the title of one of Sondheim’s most popular tunes, “Send in the Clowns.”

METROPOLITAN OPERA PERFORMS ONLINE

NEW YORK (AP) — It was the New York Metropolitan Opera, all right. But these performances came from all over the world. The opera put together an online show Saturday. The At-Home Gala gathered stars from 13 nations on Skype. Live performers included Renée Fleming in Virginia, Jonas Kaufmann in Germany, Bryn Terfel in Wales and Roberto Alagna in France. In all, there were 33 live performances and seven recorded ones during the four-hour show. The livestream on the Met website drew 300,000 in 162 countries.

MICHELLE OBAMA DOCUMENTARY TO PREMIERE ON NETFLIX

NEW YORK (AP) — Netflix says a documentary portrait of Michelle Obama titled “Becoming” will premiere on its streaming service next week. The film announced today is described as “an intimate look into the life of former first lady Michelle Obama." It chronicles her 34-city book tour in 2018-2019 for her memoir “Becoming.” Obama’s promotional tour, managed by the concert promoter Live Nation, was more like a rock tour, with a string of dates at sold-out arenas. The film will debut May 6 on Netflix. In a statement, Obama says the experience “drove home the idea" that the things people have in common is "deep and real and can’t be messed with.”
