SALT LAKE CITY — Police have responded to two stabbings on the Wasatch Front over the weekend, the first in Ogden and the second on a TRAX train in downtown Salt Lake City.
Ogden Police Lt. Cameron Stiver said officers were called to the Ogden Rescue Mission on Saturday afternoon after a fight led one person to stab another with a small knife.
Police took the alleged attacker into custody after witnesses pointed him out when they arrived. The victim was treated at a hospital with puncture wounds in the back that are not believed to be life-threatening, Stiver said.
Sunday morning, UTA spokesman Carl Arky said police have apprehended a 41-year-old man after he stabbed a 58-year-old male passenger on a Green Line TRAX train. The stabbing happened about 10:30 a.m., he said.
Both left the train at the Courthouse station downtown. Police took the alleged attacker into custody before he left the scene, Arky said.
The stabbed man was transported to the hospital. Arky said his injuries are also not life-threatening. The incident is under investigation; Arky said he does not yet know why the altercation occurred.
