PROVO — Police arrested a Provo man last week who they say spent more than $10,000 of his elderly mother’s money without permission.
Kenneth Jarvis, 43, was booked into the Utah County Jail Thursday for investigation of theft, 13 counts of forgery, and 15 counts of unlawful use of a financial card.
The investigation began March 4 when Payson police learned that Jarvis “had stolen, written out and forged his elderly mother’s name” on 13 of her checks between Dec. 25 and Jan. 25, and cashed them, according to a police affidavit.
The checks totaled $9,750. Jarvis also withdrew $2,812 in cash over 15 transactions using his mother’s bank card, according to the affidavit, and made $2,078 worth of transactions, the charges state.
Jarvis has numerous convictions for theft and burglary-related charges over the past several years, according to court records.
