UNDATED (AP) — The NCAA Division I Council is scheduled to vote on Monday whether to provide another year of eligibility to spring sport athletes. That includes sports such as baseball, softball and lacrosse. Those players had their seasons wiped out by the coronavirus pandemic. Providing similar relief to winter sport athletes, such as basketball and hockey players and wrestlers, will also be considered. There does not appear to be support for that.
UNDATED (AP) — Coaches and players live tweeting replays of epic NCAA Tournament games are giving fans a hoops fix in a time of fear and isolation. March Madness may have been canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak but the live tweeting of replays adds insight and a dash of humor to games where the outcome is already known. Kansas coach Bill Self and multiple players from Villanova's 2016 national championship team have joined in the live tweeting so far.
UNDATED (AP) — A panel of Associated Press sports writers has come up with the top 10 men's basketball games in the history of the NCAA Tournament. The fifth game on the list is Duke's revenge victory over UNLV in the 1991 national semifinals. Christian Laettner's two free throws after he was fouled on a putback attempt with 12.7 second left were the difference. The Blue Devils ruined UNLV's dream of an unbeaten season and back to back titles. Anderson Hunt led the Runnin' Rebels with 29 points, but missed a 3-point try with 2 seconds left as Duke prevailed, 79-77.
