BTS CANCELS SHOWS OVER CORONAVIRUS FEARS

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — K-pop superstar group BTS has canceled a series of planned concerts in Seoul in April due to concerns about a soaring viral outbreak in South Korea. Word of the cancellations comes from the group’s management agency. A statement from Big Hit Entertainment says the COVID-19 "outbreak has made it impossible at this time to predict the scale of the outbreak during the dates of the concert in April.” The seven-member boy band was to perform April 11-12 and April 18-19 at Seoul’s Olympic Stadium. The agency says the shows would have involved global production companies and many foreigners among its expert crew, with more than 200,000 concertgoers expected.

PLACIDO DOMINGO AMENDS HIS APOLOGY

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Placido Domingo is amending his apology for sexual misconduct from “I’m sorry” to “I’m sorry but...” On Tuesday, Domingo said that he was “truly sorry for the hurt” that he caused to several women who accused him of misconduct. He said he accepted full responsibility and he has grown from the experience. Yesterday, he said he wants to “correct the false impression” he gave with his apology. He said he was “sincere and heartfelt” and adds, “But I know what I have not done, and I’ll deny it again. I have never behaved aggressively toward anyone, and I have never done anything to obstruct or hurt anyone's career.” The U.S. union representing opera performers says its investigation found Domingo behaved inappropriately while holding senior management positions at the Los Angeles Opera and the Washington National Opera.

BILLY IDOL DOES ADS FOR NEW YORK’S ANTI-IDLING CAMPAIGN

NEW YORK (AP) - Billy Idol is telling New Yorkers, “Shut it off!” Idol is the spokesman for a new campaign to get New York City drivers to turn off their engines. Twelve billboards have gone up with Idol’s photo and the tagline, “Billy never idles — neither should you.” He’s also done radio and TV ads. In New York, it’s illegal to idle a vehicle engine for more than three minutes, or one minute in a school zone.

LAUREN DAIGLE TRIES TO COMBINE THE WILD WITH THE SUBDUED

NASHVILLE (AP) - Lauren Daigle wanted to create a live experience that was both crazy and subdued. Huh? Daigle says she was inspired by the “wild energy” of Justin Timberlake’s concerts and how he interacts with his band. She says she also loves how Adele can just stand still and never be boring. Daigle admits putting both those elements together doesn’t seem like it would make sense, but she thinks she’s blended it for her latest tour.
