SALT LAKE CITY — A U.S. citizen has died of coronavirus in Wuhan, China, the New York Times reported Friday evening.

The individual who died is in her 60s, according to officials with the United States Embassy in Beijing. This appears to be the first time an American died of the illness, the New York Times reported.

According to sources "familiar with the matter," the person is a woman who had "underlying health conditions," the New York Times reported.

More than 700 people have died of the illness and cases have been confirmed in multiple counties, the Associated Press reported.

Further details surrounding the death weren’t immediately available.
