MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Cassius Winston had 18 points and eight assists to help 11th-ranked Michigan State cruise to a second victory over Minnesota in three weeks. The Spartans beat the Gophers 70-52. Xavier Tillman added 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans, who bounced back from a loss at Indiana three days ago. They stayed in a first-place tie in the Big Ten with Illinois. Michigan State held the Gophers to season lows in field goal and 3-point percentage. Daniel Oturu led the Gophers with 19 points. Minnesota took its first home loss in Big Ten play this season.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Jalen Smith made a layup with 14.5 seconds left to help No. 17 Maryland rally for a 77-76 victory at Indiana. The Terrapins trailed 76-70 with 85 seconds to play before finishing the game on a 7-0 run. Smith had a career-high 29 points. He also had 11 rebounds. Indiana had a chance to win it with a short jumper from Trayce Jackson-Davis in the waning seconds. But the ball bounced off the rim and Smith grabbed the rebound as the buzzer sounded. Devonte Green led the Hoosiers with 16 points.

EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — D.J. Carton scored 12 of his 17 points in the second half, helping Ohio State hold off lowly Northwestern for a sorely needed 71-59 win. Once ranked as high as No. 2 in the AP Top 25, the Buckeyes had dropped six of seven to plummet out of the poll altogether. But they got back on track behind their defense, holding the Wildcats to 26.7% shooting in the second half. Northwestern lost for the ninth time in 10 games. Miller Kopp scored 20 points for the Wildcats, and Pat Spencer finished with 13.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Freshman McKenna Warnock scored 15 of her career-high 22 points in the fourth quarter when the No. 19 Iowa women broke open a close game and beat Michigan State 74-57 for the Hawkeyes' eighth straight victory. Warnock bested her previous high of 14 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds. Kathleen Doyle made seven steals and added 20 points. Taryn McCutcheon scored 12 points and Nia Clouden scored 10 to lead the Spartans. A season-best crowd of 13,420 watched as Iowa retired the No. 10 jersey of Megan Gustafson, just the second Hawkeye to receive such an honor.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Stephanie Jones had 14 points and 11 rebounds, and No. 20 Maryland defeated 22nd-ranked Northwestern 70-61 Sunday in a duel between Big Ten contenders. Taylor Mikesell scored 14, and Ashley Owusu and Blair Watson had 13 points apiece for the Terrapins. Maryland took charge with a 12-5 run in the fourth quarter after the Wildcats closed to 48-46. Lindsey Pulliam scored 20 for the Wildcats, who came in with a five-game winning streak and a share of first place with Iowa.
