Bucks beat Hornets in Paris
UNDATED (AP) — The Milwaukee Bucks have won the first NBA regular-season game to be played in France.
Giannis Antetokounmpo (YAH'-nihs an-teh-toh-KOON'-poh) had 30 points and 16 rebounds as the Bucks downed the Hornets, 116-103 in Paris. Charlotte and Milwaukee were tied going into the fourth quarter before the Bucks poured in 38 points the rest of the way.
The Bucks are a league-best 40-6 following their eighth straight win. They have their best 46-game start in team history, topping the 39-7 mark they compiled before winning the NBA championship.
Eric Bledsoe added 20 points and five assists for the Bucks, while Malik Monk led Charlotte with 31 points.

— The Raptors earned their sixth straight win as Kyle Lowry scored 26 points and Pascal Siakam (see-A’-kam) added 23 in a 118-112 downing of the Knicks. Fred VanVleet and Norman Powell each finished with 16 points in Toronto’s eighth consecutive victory over New York.
— Kemba Walker contributed 19 of his 37 points in the second quarter to help the Celtics rally from an early 46-30 deficit to beat the Magic, 109-98. Gordon Hayward finished with 22 points and Daniel Theis (tys) added 16 in Boston’s third win in a row.
— The Nuggets earned a 113-106 win over the Pelicans behind Nikola Jokic, who had 27 points and 12 rebounds. Zion Williamson scored 15 points in about 21 minutes for New Orleans, which is 0-2 since the NBA's top overall draft choice was activated for the first time this season Wednesday night.
— Kawhi (kah-WY’) Leonard got his first career triple-double and the Clippers rallied from an early 15-point hole to beat the Heat, 122-117. Leonard finished with 33 points, 10 boards and 10 assists, while Landry Shamet (SHAM’-eht) added 22 points to the win.
— Russell Westbrook torched the Timberwolves for 45 points and had 10 assists in the Rockets’ 131-124 victory at Minnesota. Houston won despite a poor shooting night by James Harden, who was 3 of 13 from the field in scoring a season-low 12 points.
— Danilo Gallinari dropped in 25 points and the Thunder won their fourth in a row by routing the Hawks, 140-111. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 24 points and Dennis Schroder added 21 for the Thunder, who shot 58% from the field and posted a season-high point total.
— Devin Booker had 35 points before fouling out with 1:31 remaining in the Suns’ 103-99 victory against the Spurs. Dario Saric (SAH’-rihch) had 20 points, Kelly Oubre (OO’-bray) Jr. added 16 and Deandre Ayton had 10 with 11 rebounds for Phoenix.
— The Pacers won for the seventh time in eight games as T.J. Warren contributed 33 points and five boards to their 129-118 win at Golden State. Doug McDermott hit for 24 points and Domantas Sabonis (doh-MAHN’-tahs sah-BOH’-nihs) just missed a triple-double for Indiana, registering 16 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.
— Jaren Jackson Jr. provided 24 of his 29 points in the first half and sank a big 3-pointer with about three minutes left in the Grizzlies, 125-112 win at Detroit. Ja (jah) Morant had 16 points and 12 assists for Memphis, and Dillon Brooks scored 22 of his 27 points in the second half.
— Buddy Hield (heeld) scored 21 points and Harrison Barnes added 19 as the Kings downed the Bulls, 98-81 to end a six-game losing streak. De'Aaron Fox had 18 points, seven assists and six rebounds for Sacramento, which led virtually wire-to-wire.

Warriors, Mavs working on deal involving Cauley-Stein
UNDATED (AP) — The Warriors are working to finalize a trade to send center Willie Cauley-Stein to the Mavericks for a second-round draft pick this summer. A person with direct knowledge of the trade discussions confirmed the swap of Cauley-Stein was in the works and anticipated it to be complete soon. Cauley-Stein is averaging 7.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and a team-leading 1.22 blocks in 41 games with 37 starts for the Warriors this season.

— The Bulls expect forward Lauri Markkanen (MAR'-kuh-nehn) to miss four to six weeks because of an injured right hip. Markkanen is averaging 15 points and 6.5 rebounds.
NHL-ALL-STAR WEEKEND
Binnington treats Blues fans to skills win
ST. LOUIS (AP) — The NHL held its skills competition on the eve of the All-Star game in St. Louis.
Blues netminder Jordan Binnington made the locals happy by capturing the goaltending shootout competition. He stopped his last 10 shots faced, beating the streak of nine set by Tampa Bay’s Alexi Vasilievskiy (va-sih-LEHV’-skee).
Islanders forward Mat Barzal captured the fastest skater competition, beating three-time defending champ and Oilers forward Connor McDavid with a time of 13.175 seconds. Barzal was just three-thousandths off the record held by Detroit’s Dylan Larkin.
Hurricanes defenseman Jacob Slavin (SLA’-vihn) was the most accurate shooter in record fashion, needing just 9.505 seconds to hit the five targets.
Canadiens blueliner Shea Weber won the hardest shot event for the fourth time since 2015, firing his best at 106.5 mph.
Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane took the inaugural shooting stars competition as players fired shots from the stands, 30 feet above the ice.
And Canada was a 2-1 winner over the United States in the 3-on-3 women’s game. Ann-Renee Desbiens (ann-reh-NAY deh-bee-AN’) was fantastic in stopping 18 of 19 shots for Canada.
TOP 25 MEN’S BASKETBALL
Butler outlasts Marquette in OT
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Butler was the only top-25 men’s basketball team in action on Friday, and the 13th-ranked Bulldogs had to rally to end a three-game losing streak.
Kamar Baldwin delivered 19 of his 31 points in the final eight minutes to lead the Bulldogs past Marquette, 89-85 in overtime. Baldwin scored nine straight to extend the game and added 10 more in OT. He also had eight rebounds and five assists.
Markus Howard scored 26 points and Sacar Anim added 22 for the Golden Eagles.

Mets introduce Rojas as their new manager
UNDATED (AP) — Luis Rojas has begun his tenure as manager of the New York Mets by thanking his famous father, Felipe Alou (feh-LEE'-pay ah-LOO').
Rojas was introduced by the Mets on Friday as the replacement for Carlos Beltrán, whose tenure was cut short last week after just 84 days. Felipe Alou was a three-time All-Star who managed Montreal for 10 seasons and San Francisco for four. Rojas called him his “college, university of baseball” and said he "taught me the game of baseball and life and helped me balance that through this journey." Rojas also praised his brother, six-time All-Star Moises Alou.
Rojas had been the Mets quality control coach last year.

— Rockies All-Star shortstop Trevor Story has agreed to a two-year, $27.5 million package that avoids an arbitration hearing. That’s according to a person familiar with the deal. The 27-year-old Story had 35 homers and 23 stolen bases last season.
— Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman has agreed to terms on a $2 million contract for 2020 that includes the possibility of earning $3 million more in incentives, according to a person familiar with the negotiations. Zimmerman has played for Washington since its first season in 2005 and holds franchise career records for hits, doubles, total bases, homers and RBIs.
— Dallas Keuchel (KY'-kul) has become the first member of the 2017 Houston Astros to offer a public apology for the team's sign-stealing scheme during their run to the World Series championship. Now with the Chicago White Sox, Keuchel says he felt what happened in Houston was blown out of proportion, but he was sorry.

Eli Manning retires
UNDATED (AP) — Eli Manning officially ended his NFL career on Friday at a packed news conference surrounded by his family, friends, former New York Giants teammates, ex-coaches and two Lombardi trophies.
The 39-year-old quarterback said he had no immediate plans and no regrets. But he said he would miss the time with teammates, the preparation and the beers in the back of the bus after wins.
The two-time Super Bowl MVP said he plans to spend some time reliving the positives memories, enjoying himself and being an assistant coach on his daughter's third-grade basketball team. A job with the Giants is a possibility, he said.
The Giants plans to retire his number 10.

— The Saints are going to court to keep the public from seeing hundreds of emails. The messages allegedly show team executives doing public relations damage control for the area's Roman Catholic archdiocese to help it contain the fallout from a burgeoning sexual abuse crisis. Attorneys for several men suing the church say 276 documents they obtained through discovery show the NFL team aided the Archdiocese of New Orleans in its “pattern and practice of concealing its crimes.” Saints attorneys say the archdiocese sought its advice on how to handle media attention that would come from the 2018 release of a list of more than 50 clergy members “credibly accused” of sexual abuse.
— NFL free agent Antonio Brown has been released on bail after a night in a Florida jail. He turned himself in to face charges that he and his trainer attacked the driver of a moving truck.
— Police in Ohio say they found small amounts of marijuana in Kareem Hunt’s car when the Browns running back was cited for speeding this week. Hunt was suspended eight games last season for two physical altercations. Cleveland signed him to a one-year contract last February. Hunt was cut by the Chiefs after a video surfaced of Hunt shoving and kicking a woman at a Cleveland hotel.

Kyrgios sets up Nadal clash
MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Nick Kyrgios (KEER'-ee-ohs) has set up a much-anticipated showdown against No. 1 Rafael Nadal at the Australian Opn. The No. 23-seeded Australian put aside a bloodied hand, a tiff with the chair umpire and a couple of flubbed match points to get to the fourth round.
Kyrgios blew a two-set lead and was forced to a fifth before edging No. 16 Karen Khachanov in a match that lasted nearly 4 1/2 hours. When it was over, Kyrgios dropped to his back behind the baseline.
He will face Nadal next. They have a contentious relationship.
Nadal has easily advanced to the second week with a 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 win over fellow Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta. It is the 47th time that Nadal has reached the fourth round at a Grand Slam tournament, trailing only Roger Federer's 67 and Novak Djokovic's 50.
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova pulled off the day’s first surprise by downing second-seeded Katarina Pliskova (PLIHSH’-koh-vah), 7-6, 7-6. Pavluchenkova had one just one set in her six previous meetings with Pliskova before capturing the 2-hour, 25-minute match.
Next up for Pavlyuchenkova is three-time major champion Angelique Kerber, who has advanced to the fourth round with a 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 win over Camila Giorgi. Kerber is seeking her second Australian Open single title and her first Grand Slam championship since Wimbledon in 2018.

— Sixth-seeded Belinda Bencic dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Anett Kontaveit to join other a queue of highly-ranked women exiting from Melbourne Park before the fourth round.
— Unseeded Iga Swiatek helped continue the exodus of seeded women's players by beating No. 19 Donna Vekic (VEH’-kihch), 7-5, 6-3.
— Wimbledon champion Simona Halep (HA’-lehp) knocked out Yulia Putintseva, 6-1, 6-4.
— Two-time major winner Garbiñe Muguruza beat fifth-seeded Elina Svitolina 6-1, 6-2
— CiCi Bellis' return to Grand Slam tennis after a two-year absence ended with a 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-0 loss to 16th-seeded Elise Mertens.
— No. 9 seed Kiki Bertens closed out the women's third round with a 6-2, 7-6 (3) win over Zarina Diyas.
— Fifth-seeded Dominic Thiem (teem) had a much easier time in his third-round match than his second and beat Taylor Fritz 6-2, 6-4, 6-7, 6-4.
— Seventh-seeded Alexander Zverev beat 36-year-old Fernando Verdasco 6-2, 6-2, 6-4, and that means another $10,000 to the bush fire relief effort in Australia. The 22-year-old German player has pledged $10,000 for every match win at the Australian Open, and his entire prize money if he wins the title at Melbourne Park this year. His best run at a major to date is to the quarterfinals at the French Open.
— Three-time major champion Stan Wawrinka (vah-VRINK'-ah) moved into the fourth round after 19th-seeded American John Isner stopped playing in the second set. Wawrinka led 6-4, 4-1 when Isner was visited by a trainer at a changeover and then retired from the match.
— Gael Monfils (GAH'-ehl mohn-FEES') beat qualifier Ernests Gulbis 7-6 (2), 6-4, 6-3.
PGA-FARMERS INSURANCE OPEN
Palmer leads following 62
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Ryan Palmer carded 11 birdies for a 10-under 62 on the North Course to build a two-shot lead over Brandt Snedeker in the PGA’s Farmers Insurance Open.
Palmer was sprinting toward a course record on the North until missing the fairway on the tough par-4 closing hole and making his only bogey of the round.
Tiger Woods began his day with four putts from 25 feet before settling for a 71 that leaves him six shots back.
Phil Mickelson missed the cut for the second straight week and headed for the practice range. Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele (SHOW’-flee), defending champion Justin Rose and U.S. Open champion Gary Woodland also missed the cut.
LPGA-GAINBRIDGE
Sagstrom on top through 36
BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — Madelene Sagstrom birdied seven of her first nine holes and shot a 10-under 62 to take the second-round lead in the Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Raton, Florida.
Sagstrom birdied the first two holes, parred the next two and made five straight birdies to make the turn in 7-under 29. She is 10 under through 36 holes one shot ahead of European Solheim Cup teammate Carlota Ciganda of Spain.
