R. KELLY INDICTED FOR FAKE ID SCHEME LINKED TO AALIYAH MARRIAGE
NEW YORK (AP) — Federal prosecutors are accusing singer R. Kelly of scheming with others to pay for a fake ID for an unnamed female a day before he married R&B singer Aaliyah. At the time of the 1994 wedding, Aaliyah was 15 years old. The allegation is contained in a revised indictment filed yesterday in New York. It accuses Kelly of paying a bribe to a public employee in exchange for a “fraudulent identification document” for someone identified only as “Jane Doe” on Aug. 30, 1994. A day later, Kelly — who was 27 at the time — married Aaliyah at a secret ceremony in Chicago. The marriage was annulled months later because of her age. Aaliyah died in a plane crash in 2001 at age 22.

CHRIS BROWN PROHIBITED FROM MONKEY OWNERSHIP
LOS ANGELES (AP) - A judge in Los Angeles says no more monkeys for Chris Brown. On Wednesday, Brown was ordered to give up all rights to his former pet monkey, pay for its care and not try to buy a new one. Brown posted an Instagram photo in early 2018 of his daughter cuddling with a capuchin monkey named Fiji. California fish and wildlife agents seized the monkey. Brown must pay $35,000 to a facility that is caring for Fiji. He’s not allowed to visit the monkey without making special arrangements. If Brown keeps the terms of the deal, charges of illegal animal ownership will be dropped in June.

CHAMILLIONAIRE LOOKS TO INVEST IN TECH
NEW YORK (AP) - Chamillionaire (kah-MIL’-yon-ayr) says when he was growing up, the prevailing thought in his neighborhood was that the only way to succeed was to be a basketball player or a rapper. He’s pushing the idea that those neighborhoods can foster tech talent as well. Chamillionaire is investing in upstart tech companies with an eye at giving women and minorities a hand. He says those groups bring solutions to problems that have yet to be solved, and diversity is good for the tech industry as a whole. Chamillionaire says tech stuff was considered nerdy where he grew up, but he’s showing that it’s not only cool, but it’s producing millionaires.
