AMERICAN FORK — A 64-year-old man was killed Monday evening after being struck by a truck that then left the scene, according to police.
The crash occurred at about 8 p.m. near 280 E. Main Street in American Fork. Police said in a news release the driver might not have known they hit the man because the street is dark.
The man died on the scene and his name was not released, American Fork Police Lt. Josh Christensen said.
Police are searching for a white 2006-2009 Dodge Ram with a cargo-style shell. The truck would likely have headlight damage. On Tuesday, police released photos of the white truck, asking the driver to contact police.
Police also offered a reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest and "successful prosecution" of the driver, according to Tuesday's news release.
The speed limit in the area is 25 mph and the man wasn’t hit in a crosswalk, Christensen said.
Thus far into the investigation, police don’t think speed was a factor in the crash.
