IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Luka Garza scored a career-high 30 points and Jack Nunge broke out of his scoring drought to start the season as Iowa defeated Oral Roberts 87-74. Garza, whose scored 25 on three difference occasions, had 18 points in the first half as the Hawkeyes built a 55-40 halftime lead.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Jon Teske 16 points and seven rebounds, and Zavier Simpson added 11 points as Michigan ran away with a 70-50 victory over Elon in a Battle 4 Atlantis campus game. Sophomore David DeJulius set career highs with 10 points and eight rebounds, as rookie coach Juwan Howard and the Wolverines improved to 3-0 with the win.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Cam Mack scored a career-high 24 points and Nebraska raced to a 31-point first-half lead on the way to defeating South Dakota State to get Fred Hoiberg his first win as Cornhuskers coach. Nebraska struggled to score its first two games, but came out hot, hitting 60 percent of its shots in the first 15 minutes of the game.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Penn State still has a path to the College Football Playoff. The No. 9 Nittany Lions can’t afford another slip up, especially against a team they’ve historically beaten. But this Indiana team is different. The No. 24 Hoosiers are 7-2 and bowl-eligible for the second time in coach Tom Allen’s tenure. They earned their first AP Top 25 ranking since 1993 with their fourth-straight win last week.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — There aren’t many ranked teams who bring a backup quarterback into a meeting with the media to preview their next opponent late in the season. No. 2 Ohio State (9-0, 6-0 Big Ten) isn’t your ordinary team. The Buckeyes are 51-point favorites over Rutgers on Saturday.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — When Michigan faces Michigan State, the actual 60 minutes of football are only part of the show. Pay close attention to what’s done pregame and said postgame. The participants tend to remember. The two in-state rivals meet again this weekend, one year after they had a dustup on the field before their game.

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Akienreh Johnson scored a career-high 21 points, Naz Hillmon had 14 points and nine rebounds, and No. 24 Michigan beat Kent State 88-53 in the Akron Classic. Johnson, a Toledo native, scored 13 of her points in the third quarter when Michigan tallied 31 points to build a 23-point lead.
