PITTSBURGH (AP) — Kenny Pickett threw for 359 yards and a touchdown and ran for a pair of scores as Pittsburgh held off North Carolina 34-27 in overtime. The victory gave Pitt its first win over the Tar Heels since joining the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2013. The Panthers kept their hopes of a second straight Coastal Division title alive when Pickett darted into the end zone to start overtime and the defense followed by forcing North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell to throw incomplete on fourth-and-16.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Jazmine Jones scored 25 points and Dana Evans had 24 _ both career highs _ to lead No. 9 Louisville to a 76-63 victory over Central Michigan. The Cardinals shot just 37.3%, but Jones made 10 of 13 baskets against the Chippewas. She added nine rebounds.
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Kayla Jones and Grace Hunter scored 15 points each, Elissa Cunane added 14 points and 13 rebounds, and the No. 14 N.C. State women beat Lamar 81-40. Jada Boyd’s jumper with 4:31 left gave the Wolfpack (3-0) their largest lead of the game at 81-32 and the Cardinals (1-2) closed the game on an 8-0 run.
NOTRE DAME, Ind. (AP) — Nia Clouden scored a career-high 28 points and No. 16 Michigan State held off No. 15 Notre Dame’s late rally for a 72-69 victory. Clouden made four 3-pointers and was 9 of 21 from the field. Sam Brunelle’s 3-pointer got the Irish within 70-69 with 10 seconds left, but Taryn McCutcheon made a pair of free throws to seal it for the Spartans.
UNDATED (AP) — Clemson has the ACC Atlantic Division wrapped up, but does not believe on letting up on the gas pedal as the defending national champs get ready for Wake Forest. Safety K’Von Wallace said the team understands that it must keep focused to achieve all its goals. The third-ranked Tigers wrapped up a fifth-straight trip to the ACC title game with a 55-10 win at North Carolina State last week. They go for their 26th straight win this week.
