NEW YORK (AP) — Irad Ortiz Jr. rode five winners at Aqueduct on Monday, the second time he's had that many in a day this year.
The 27-year-old jockey from Puerto Rico won the second race with Customerexperience, the sixth with Willing to Speed, the eighth with Country Grammer, the ninth with Classic Lady and the 10th with Pins and Needles. He rode two other races.
Ortiz also won five races on July 31 at Saratoga.
He recently won the Bill Shoemaker Award as the most outstanding jockey at the Breeders' Cup world championships at Santa Anita.
