SALT LAKE CITY — A man who police say posed as a much younger person has been charged with raping a teenage girl.
Ibrahim Aden Mohamud, 30, was charged Friday in 3rd District Court with rape, a first-degree felony, and enticing a minor, a second-degree felony.
In July, police say a 15-year-old girl met Mohamud through Facebook messenger.
“(She) disclosed that she thought (Mohamud) was 18 years old because he had a driver’s license and worked at a hospital as a cook,” according to charging documents. “He represented that he went to her school and now lived in Salt Lake City.”
From April through June, Mohamud picked the girl up in his car several times and they had sex in the car in South Ogden and Midvale, the charges state.
When interviewed by police, they reported that Mohamud admitted he never went to school in the United States and did not come to the U.S. until he was older.
A $250,000 warrant was issued Friday for his arrest.
