Game 3 set for Nationals Park
WASHINGTON (AP) _ The World Series resumes tonight in Washington, with the Nationals up 2-0 in the best-of-seven series.
Aníbal Sánchez is scheduled to start for the Nationals against Zack Greinke.
Rookie Yordan Álvarez has been one of the Astros' hottest hitters in the World Series, but with no designated hitter in the National League ballpark there's no guarantee he will be in the lineup. Manager A.J. Hinch says he’s leaning against starting Houston's usual DH in left field in place of Michael Brantley, citing defensive concerns.
As for his pitcher, Hinch says Greinke is “familiar with the bat,” can bunt and is a “very smart baseball player.” Grienke spent parts of nine seasons in the NL and hit .280 in 56 plate appearances this season with Arizona and Houston, including a pair of home runs.
Game 3 will be the first World Series game in Washington since the Senators played in 1933.

Champs visit Boston on NBA’s first Friday
UNDATED (AP) _ The NBA Champion Raptors fly into Boston tonight after a successful start to their title defense.
Toronto opened their season with a 130-122 overtime victory over New Orleans Pelicans. The Celtics are looking to get on a winning track in front of their home fans, after dropping a 107-93 decision in Philadelphia on Wednesday.
Other early starts have the Timberwolves in Charlotte to face the Hornets, and the Knicks in Brooklyn to take on Kyrie Irving and the Nets. The Chicago Bulls are in Memphis, the Mavericks visit New Orleans, and Oklahoma City hosts the Wizards. The Phoenix Suns are in Denver to play the Nuggets, while Portland is at Sacramento, the Lakers get a visit from the Utah Jazz.
NHL-SCHEDULE
Avalanche and Golden Knights get early start
UNDATED (AP) _ Las Vegas is a city known for messing with people’s internal clocks. The city’s hockey team gets in on that this afternoon.
The Golden Knights host the Colorado Avalanche, with faceoff set for 3:00 p.m. Pacific time (6:00 EDT). Both teams are off to strong starts on the season with seven wins apiece. The Avalanche will be without injured first line winger Miko Rantanen.
San Jose is coming off a 4-2 win Montreal last night, as they skate into Toronto to face the Maple Leafs. The New Jersey Devils host the Arizona Coyotes at New Jersey, while Ottawa is home to play the N.Y. Islanders and Buffalo tries to get back on a winning track against Detroit, after losing 6-2 to the Rangers last night.
And one more team gets to test its stamina playing on back-to-back nights. The Washington Capitals are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss in Edmonton. They play the Canucks in Vancouver tonight.

Tom Brady jersey stolen _ again
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) _ Authorities say a Rhode Island man visiting the New England Patriots Hall of Fame took a Tom Brady jersey off a display and walked off with it.
Police say 33-year-old Zanini Cineus, of Providence, was wearing it under his jacket when he was apprehended Thursday still in the vicinity of Gillette Stadium. He was freed on personal recognizance after a not guilty plea to a larceny charge was entered on his behalf at his arraignment.
Police say the signed jersey was worth $10,000, but the team said it had not been worn in a game.
A game-worn Brady jersey was stolen out of the locker room after the Patriots' Super Bowl victory over the Atlanta Falcons in 2017.
SKIING
Mikaela Shiffrin voted skier of the year by journalists
SOELDEN, Austria (AP) — Three-time overall World Cup champion Mikaela Shiffrin has been voted skier of the year for 2019.
She beat Marcel Hirscher in the annual vote by the international association of ski journalists.
Shiffrin set an all-time best mark by winning 17 World Cup races. The American added gold medals in slalom and super-G, and bronze in GS at the world championships in Sweden in February.
Shiffrin calls it “an incredible honor,” but says "It feels a little bit wrong.” Shiffrin says she would have voted for Hirscher, who retired after winning his record-extending eighth straight overall championship.
The new World Cup season starts with a women's giant slalom on the Rettenbach glacier on Saturday.
