UNDATED (AP) — No. 16 Michigan is aiming to fine tune its shaky offense at Illinois. The Fighting Illini may be very accommodating. They have given up an average of 39 points during a three-game losing streak to Eastern Michigan, Nebraska and Minnesota. The Wolverines were held scoreless over the last three quarters of a 10-3 win over Iowa.
UNDATED (AP) — This is not an easy year to be an offensive coordinator in the Big Ten. The conference includes the top four teams in the FBS in scoring defense: Wisconsin, Penn State, Iowa and Ohio State. Move over to the yards-based total defense stat, and those same teams occupy four of the top five spots. Advanced stats also give high regard to the defenses at Michigan, Michigan State and Northwestern.
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The NCAA has denied a request for junior forward Micah Potter to play during the fall semester after transferring from Ohio State two days before the season opener last November. The 6-foot-9 Potter, who has not competed in regular-season games since the 2017-18 season, will be eligible to play beginning Dec. 21 against Milwaukee. Potter and Wisconsin coach Greg Gard say the decision seems unfair since he has already missed an entire season.
UNDATED (AP) — After thumping Kent State of the Mid-American Conference last week, Jonathan Taylor and No. 8 Wisconsin look to stay unbeaten when they step back into Big Ten play and host Michigan State at Camp Randall Stadium. The Spartans look to rebound from a 24-point loss at Ohio State in primetime. Michigan State will have to contain Taylor, who has rushed for at least 100 yards in each of the Badgers' five games this season and leads the nation with 16 touchdowns (12 rushing and four receiving).
UNDATED (AP) — The Nittany Lions expect to run into their first real challenge in Kinnick Stadium where the Hawkeyes will try to rebound from a close loss to Michigan in their Big Ten opener. Both teams are propelled by top 10 defenses.
UNDATED (AP) — No. 16 Michigan needs to get and stay in a rhythm offensively against Illinois to prepare for tougher tests coming up against No. 10 Penn State, No. 9 Notre Dame and No. 3 Ohio State. The Fighting Illini would love to end their 23-game losing streak to ranked teams by stunning the Wolverines.
