SALT LAKE CITY — Police are looking for a stolen BMW X3 after a brazen theft in Salt Lake City Saturday evening.

A woman entered her garage Saturday to find an unknown white man sitting in her BMW, Lt. Brett Olsen of Salt Lake City police said.

The man then left the vehicle and entered the residence, demanding the car’s keys while he pushed the woman in the process. When a man tried to intervene, the thief struck him with the vehicle while fleeing the scene, police said.

Olsen said the man drove to the parking lot of the Salt Lake Country Club and called police from there.

“When they located him, he fled from the officers,” Olsen said. “He called us and said he wanted to talk to us.”

Police are still searching for the man.

It is unknown whether the man that was struck by the vehicle sustained any significant injuries in the scuffle.
