SALT LAKE CITY — It was all Utah Saturday night as they earned a 38-13 victory over the visiting Washington State Cougars on Homecoming night. The win gave the Utes back some momentum and a jump up in the national rankings Sunday.

Utah moved up to No. 17 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and USA Today Coaches Poll, up two spots from its previous spot of No. 19 last week. Utah had jumped up as high as No. 10 this season in the AP Poll and No. 11 in the Coaches Poll before dropping to No. 19 after a loss to USC on the road.

The Utes are one of two teams ranked from the Pac-12’s South Division this week, with Arizona State coming in at No. 20 in the AP Poll after defeating Cal 24-17 Friday night. The Sun Devils were previous unranked before their weekend win, and remain unranked in the Coaches Poll.

Oregon leads the conference at No. 13 on a bye week. The Ducks are followed by No. 15 Washington, who claimed a 28-14 win over then-No. 21 USC Saturday. The Huskies are ranked No. 16 in the Coaches Poll.

California, which previously led the conference at No. 15, dropped all the way out of the rankings after losing to Arizona State. The Golden Bears lost starting quarterback Chase Garbers in the second half of the game, and his status will remain unknown until likely Monday.

USC also dropped out of the rankings, though the Trojans continue to receive votes, as do California and Colorado. Washington State continues to receive votes in the Coaches Poll.

Voters changed up the top five programs this week and named Alabama the No. 1 team after Clemson narrowly beat North Carolina on the road in a 21-20 win. The Crimson Tide beat out the Tigers for the first-place spot for the first time this season.
