DELTA — A Delta man was charged Monday with raping a teenage girl.

David William Peterson, 41, is charged in Millard County’s 4th District Court with rape, a first-degree felony, and providing alcohol to a minor, a class A misdemeanor.

On Aug. 30, police say a teen girl went to Peterson’s house to pick up some alcohol he had purchased for her. The girl told investigators Peterson then “raped her,” the charges state.

The incident was not reported to the Millard County Sheriff’s Office until Friday, according to the charges.

A deputy then went to Peterson’s home.

“I asked if he knew why I was there and he stated something like, ‘Yes, I expected you sooner. I almost turned myself in yesterday,’” the charges state.

Court documents refer to Peterson as the girl’s “supervisor,” but do not say where they worked.
