SANDY — A man died after he fell 40 feet from a billboard Thursday morning, police said.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a fall from a billboard located in the area of 9931 S. 300 West about 9:45 a.m., Sandy Police Sgt. Jason Neilsen said. A 66-year-old man, whose name wasn’t immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Several witnesses told police the man was working on the billboard when he fell. They said he was working with someone else up on the billboard, and there were others at the base of it when the fall happened, Nielsen added.

The fall remains under investigation.
