OGDEN — Weber County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team were in for a surprise Tuesday when they responded to a crashed car in Ogden River and found a dog inside the abandoned car.
Crews responded to a call of a car that overturned in the Ogden River and the driver had fled the scene, the agency shared via Facebook Wednesday evening. The car had to be cleared of other occupants before it could be removed from the water. It was then when crews heard a dog barking from inside the car.
A member of the office's dive team was lowered down to the rock wall and moved over to the car, the post said. The diver was unable to retrieve the dog, so the dog was secured inside the vehicle instead, the post explained.
Once crews got the car out of the river, they were able to get the dog out. The dog was not injured during the ordeal, "just a little wet and happy to get a treat," the post stated.
Weber County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team thanked Weber County Animal Services for assisting with the dog, the post stated.
