BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Bruins aren’t tipping their hand regarding banged up defensemen Zdeno Chara and Matt Grzelcyk. They are being called are being called game-time decisions ahead of a pivotal Stanley Cup game 5 against the St. Louis Blues. Boston coach Bruce Cassidy would not confirm Chara and Grzelcyk will take warmups ahead of Thursday night's game. Each player was on the ice for the morning skate. The series is tied 2-2.
PARIS (AP) — American Amanda Anisimova is just 17, unseeded in the French Open and ranked 51st in the world. Everything changed today as she defeated defending champ Simona Halep to advance to the semifinals. No. 8 Ash Barty advanced by beating No. 14 Madison Keys of the United States 6-3, 7-5. On the men’s side, No. 1 Novak Djokovic reached the semifinals Thursday after beating Alexander Zverev 7-5, 6-2, 6-2. Thiem reached the semifinals for the fourth straight year by beating Karen Khachanov 6-2, 6-4, 6-2. Al semifinal matches will be played Friday.
UNDATED (AP) _ There’s one contest complete in day game heavy Major League Baseball. Amed Rosario and Dominic Smith hit back-to-back home runs to begin the first inning, then Todd Frazier hit a tiebreaking drive in the eighth that sent the New York Mets over the San Francisco Giants 7-3. Pinch-hitter Jeff McNeil singled home the tying run in the seventh for the Mets, stayed in the game and added an RBI single that capped a four-run eighth.
ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — The Detroit Lions have signed receiver Jermaine Kearse. Kearse was added to the roster and Jordan Smallwood was released on Detroit's third and final day of mandatory minicamp Thursday. Kearse has 255 career catches for 3,290 yards and 17 touchdowns.
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge resumed on-field batting practice Thursday and said he is not focusing on a timeframe for returning to the lineup. Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday it is possible Judge could return in time for New York's games against Boston in London on June 29 and 30, the first major league regular-season games in Europe.
