PROVO, Utah (AP) — Police say a man who was attacking a woman near the campus of Brigham Young University was shot when a second man intervened in the fight.
Provo police say the man and woman were fighting near the street Monday evening when the second man stopped his car and pulled out a gun.
Police say the armed passer-by ordered the man to stop attacking the woman.
Police say he fired the gun when the man didn't stop, hitting multiple times in the chest.
The man was taken to a hospital. His condition wasn't known Monday night.
Police say the shooter is cooperating with authorities.
Authorities did not immediately identify the people involved.
