ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Some University of Georgia fans will be able to buy beer during football games _ but only donors who have agreed to give tens of thousands of dollars will be allowed to drink. UGA Athletic Director Greg McGarity tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that alcohol will be sold in the Sanford Stadium's premium seating area this football season. The area will be limited to members of the Magill Society, which requires members pledge to donate at least $25,000 to the UGA Athletic Association.
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The NCAA baseball tournament opens Friday with play at 16 regional sites. The regional winners advance to super regionals next week and the final eight go to the College World Series beginning June 15. Central Michigan has won 18 straight games and is the hottest team entering the tournament. No. 1 national seed UCLA has won 10 in a row. The last top seed to win the championship was Miami in 1999.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Giselle "G" Juarez threw a complete game to help Oklahoma beat Alabama 3-2 in the Women's College World Series. The Sooners set up a matchup against rival Oklahoma State on Friday night with a berth in the semifinals on the line.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Samantha Show hit two homers and pitched a complete game to help Oklahoma State beat Florida 2-1 in the Women's College World Series. Show's teammates didn't register a single hit, and it didn't matter as the 13th-seeded Cowgirls claimed their first World Series win since 1998.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee has boosted its frontcourt depth by adding junior-college transfer Jaiden McCoy. The 6-foot-3 center from Northwest Florida State College began summer classes at Tennessee on Thursday and will be eligible to play for the Lady Vols during the upcoming season. Tennessee coach Kellie Harper says McCoy is "a solid post player who has the ability to finish around the paint as well as knock down an outside shot."
