SALT LAKE CITY — A Park City man accused of firing two shots at another car in a suspected road rage incident in Parleys Canyon last fall was charged in the incident on Thursday.

Grant Gutierrez, 24, is facing two counts of discharge of a firearm, a third-degree felony; three counts of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony; possession of a firearm by a restricted person, a third-degree felony; and drug possession a class A misdemeanor, in 3rd District Court.

On Oct. 25, three men were headed east on I-80 in Parleys Canyon when they were cut off by Gutierrez, according to charging documents. The trio passed Gutierrez and "threw their hands up in frustration" as they drove by, the charges state.

Moments later, Gutierrez "pulled up on their right side and fired two rounds at them," according to charging documents. No one was injured.

Utah Highway Patrol troopers tracked down Gutierrez, pulled him over and arrested him, the charges state. In his vehicle, they found a gun and cocaine, according to charging documents. Prosecutors also noted that "evidence was uncovered during the investigation suggesting that (Gutierrez) may be actively engaged in the distribution of illegal narcotics," the charges state.
