MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Memphis coach Penny Hardaway has added Lester Quinones, the ninth-ranked shooting guard in the nation, to his 2019 recruiting class.
The Tigers announced Monday that Quinones has signed his national letter of intent.
That makes the 6-foot-5 Quinones the fifth member of Hardaway's second recruiting class, moving Memphis up to No. 5 in 247Sports' composite rankings.
Quinones played at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, last season after playing at St. Benedict's Prep in New Jersey. He is rated as the No. 64 prospect overall in 247Sports' composite rankings.
He joins Damion Baugh of Tennessee Prep as a signee during the late signing period, which ends Wednesday. Hardaway already had commitments from James Wiseman, the nation's top-rated recruit, 6-7 forward D.J. Jeffries and 6-9 Malcolm Dandridge. Both Wiseman and Dandridge played for Hardaway at Memphis East High and won a state title shortly before Hardaway was hired by the Tigers.
