WASHINGTON (AP) — Penn State's Grant Ament and Boston College star Sam Apuzzo are among the men's and women's finalists for the Tewaaraton Award, given annually to the top players in college lacrosse. Pat Spencer of Loyola, Yale's TD Ierlan, Maryland's Jared Bernhardt, and Princeton's Michael Sowers are the other men's finalists. BC's Dempsey Arsenault, Jen Giles of Maryland, Selena Lasota of Northwestern, and Maryland's Megan Taylor are the other women finalists. The winners will be announced May 30.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Iowa's Cordell Pemsl's hardship waiver has been approved by the Big Ten. He now two years of basketball eligibility left. Pemsl played just 29 minutes last season after complications involving hardware from a knee surgery he had in high school.
